A lot of people I know do not buy Acer products because they say Acer computers break easily. Correction, if you go to Amazon, you will notice that the best selling netbooks of all time was the Aspire series. Well it has no correlation with breaking, but seeing that people buy it all the time just means that they were satisfied with them.
Acer also owns eMachines and Gateway. Do not be scared of these low end products. They work very very well. And in case they break down, you will have no worries at all.
I had the best experience at Acer Service Center located far off in Manila. They have the best Manager there. I forgot his name, but I will edit this as soon as I check my records again.
My eMachines netbook's screen broke last year...yes, as in shattered. Since screens are so pricey (worth at least half of the netbook), I asked if they have screens with a couple of dead pixels that they are "throwing" away, and guess what, he approved to have my screen fixed with one of those. Well I have to be honest that I first called one bigwig at the main office that's why it was approved. The little netbook was back with me in a week's time, and I asked how much do I need to pay for the repair. He said, nothing, all free, take a look at your screen it has one tiny dead pixel over the right side. Honestly, even if I blinked I could not see it.
They also replaced my perfectly working keyboard just because some of the letters were already erased.
I was so happy yaaay! Thank you Acer!
Here's my eMachines from last year. I have since sold it like I do to most of my gadgets. I keep updating my stuff all the time.
