If you want gadgets that will last until they become obsolete or until you get tired of them, you seriously need to consider Apple.
I have owned a ton of gadgets and Apple lasts forever....nah of course not, but they break less easily. Except for their power bricks :P But don't worry, if you are persistent enough, the geniuses at the shop or those at the Customer Care will agree to replace your worn out power cord beyond the warranty period. I should know because they replaced my iPhone cable and my Macbook Air power brick.
Not only did they replace the iPhone cable, they gave me a free set of International adaptors worth way way more than the original usb cable that came with the phone. They shipped it to my home address in the Philippines from Singapore.
Now that's first rate Customer Service.
